Beautiful Swimwear for Self-Conscious Women

We women are terrible for not feeling confident about our bodies. At some stage in our lives, most of us will feel self-conscious when wearing a swimming costume or bikini.
Fortunately, for most of us this is a passing feeling. After a while, we manage to sort the issue out, or put things into perspective and go back to feeling confident enough to go back to enjoying the beach or pool on our hols.

However, for some it is not quite so easy. They carry on feeling self-conscious and sadly stop going swimming, or sunbathing.
Of course, this is a real shame because they are missing out on a lot of fun, and a fantastic form or exercise. It is something that can help you to reshape your body a bit and regain your confidence.

New swimwear designs that flatter
If you are feeling self-conscious, but are still desperate to go swimming, you are in luck. Finally, swimwear designers are sitting up and taking notice. They are no longer only making swimming costumes and bikinis that only look great on catwalk models. They really are starting to make swimwear that flatters today’s women.
Shape enhancing swimwear
For those women who hate swimming costumes because they cling and show their bulges, control swimwear is the best option. These garments are made out of two layers of fabric.
The material that is worn closest to the skin is highly elasticated, so smoothes everything out, and holds things in a bit. This creates a slimmer silhouette. The outer layer is made out of the same fabric as any other swimming costume, which means nobody except you will know that you are wearing shape-enhancing swimwear. If you would like to see some great examples of exactly these types of costumes, all you need to do is to click here.
Blouson Sets and Tankinis
Another flattering two-layer option is a blouson set. Again, the inner layer is made from high quality elasticated fabric, which holds you in and helps to lift your breasts.
However, the outer layer is made from a light floaty print material, which looks like a beautiful summer top. Often there is also the option to remove the straps, so this type of swimwear is very versatile. To finish this swimming outfit off you just need to choose a pair of bikini bottoms in a style that you feel comfortable wearing.
The great thing about this type of swimwear is that the tops are often nice enough to be worn when you are not on the beach or next to the pool. They also look good when paired with a pair of shorts or jeans.
Swim Dresses
Swim dresses are very similar to blouson sets, but the top is typically far longer. They are designed to cover the very top of the thighs, which is great for those of us who are self-conscious about that area of their body.

If you have not been shopping for swimwear for some time, I would strongly urge you to do so now. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of choice that is available for women of all shapes and sizes.

  1. I've always felt uncomfortable in swimsuits - I just don't know why they have to make them so skimpy for women! I'm glad there are finally some alternatives now! - Helen :)
