An Autumn Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

I've been feeling really Autumnual lately, and I know that that sounds like a somewhat silly thing to say with it being Autumn and all, but it's just that I'm not usually a particularly big fan of the change of season - I don't usually enjoying letting go of Summer.

Having them makes the change of seasons actually quite fun. It's fun to teach them about why the leaves have fallen off of the trees, it's fun to go on Autumn walks and try our best to spot and collect conkers (though, we've actually found none this year! Where are they all hiding?!). It's fun to wrap up a bit warmer and get our wellies on. It's fun to look ahead to Christmas and listen to my eldest get excited about what Christmas presents he'd like this year. It's fun to buy halloween decor and decorate our house and to start burning Autumn candles. It's fun to make halloween cupcakes and to do seasonal crafts together and this year it has been super fun to finally get around to going pumpkin picking at the pumpkin patch!

We'd never been to a pick your own pumpkin patch before and though the pumpkins turned out to be a bit more pricier than you can buy them in the shop for, the experience of actually going to a pumpkin patch as a family with the boys was pretty fun. I took my DSLR camera along with me and I absolutely loved taking photos of the boys and of us all surrounded by all the pumpkins. We visited a Pop Up Farm just off of junction 9 of the M1 (postcode AL3 8HT) after seeing it on a friends Instagram page and then finding out more about it over on the MK kids blog.

After we'd finished picking our pumpkins and attempting to take a family photo (which on a very windy day with no big tripod and two little boys who just wanted to run around and jump over pumpkins, was a bit of a challenge), we headed home for a hot cup of tea and to make the Halloween cupcakes I'd promised the boys that we'd do. The day turned out to be a really lovely family day and it really got us in the mood for Halloween and Autumn. Adam and I even got to head out for a few drinks that evening whilst my Mum and Step-Dad came to put the boys to bed, which was really nice.

I thought I'd share some of my favourite photos from the pumpkin patch here and there's also a video of our day embedded at the end of the post and over on my youtube channel if you'd like to see it. :)
