Feeling the Flu

Oh my, do I not want to ever experience THAT again! As I sit here and type this I am just recovering from the flu. It started off as a sore throat, a cold, the usual sort of thing that you'd expect from this time of year. Ethan had brought it home from nursery and the day he did, he spent the night burning, too hot to touch in our bed, bless him. Luckily he'd had the flu jab. They say it's good that they pick up things from nursery and such, to build their immune system. But it's no good for those they pass it on to, including our four and half month old Logan.

I picked it up last Thursday and then by Wednesday just gone it turned nasty - really really nasty. And I knew it was more than just a head cold. I requested anti-sickness tablets and tablets for a sinus infection from my doctor and sent myself off to bed (something I NEVER normally do). I spent three days in my pyjama's, sleeping most of the day and feeling like I was on deaths-door (yeah it was that bad) the rest of the time.

I had to visit the out of hours doctor and even went for a vision test this morning as I stopped being able to see properly. I now think my vision was thrown off due to my sinuses being so blocked. Luckily I was well enough to actually leave the house today, because the last couple of days I've been completely bedridden and my amazing Husband, who's also been sick himself, has been taking care of us. Logan seems to be on the mend, making little improvements bless him, but it's been horrible for him and heartbreaking to watch him so poorly. I've started feeling somewhat better and I can't tell you how grateful I am to be feeling even remotely a bit more well. I've never experienced anything like that flu and I never want to again!

Taken just before we ALL got unwell. Poor Ethan was burning up!

My poorly baby, who's still recovering. I can't tell you how heartbreaking it's been to see him so unwell at such a young age! I'm so glad we all seem to be on the mend.

  1. Flu is horrible! it wipes you out and leaves you helpless! I do chuckle when my friends say they have the flu then turn up for work the next day. Flu debilitates you for weeks! and as I've told you Alex, you will feel the effects for some time. The thing you have to do is put yourself 1st,then you can recover and take care of your family. I know this because in my 53 years I've had it twice (that I remember) the 1st time was when both me and your dad had it at the same time and you poor kids had to fend for yourselves. The second was swine flu! (That was nasty!) I'm glad you feel a bit better, and little Berry is feeling better too. love always. Mum x

  2. Ah that sounds awful. I'm glad you're starting to feel better now though. It's horrible seeing your little ones so poorly :( At least it's out the way before Christmas!

  3. Oh bless you :( :Poor Logan's little face. Glad you're all on the mend now! This is why it drives me mad when you see people saying they don't need flu jabs coz its "just the flu"...people mistake the flu and colds so easily, flu knocks you off your feet for weeks!!
Like the person above said though, hopefully it means you've got your winter sickness out the way well before Christmas! xx

  4. How awful I dread us getting the flu.
I remember when my mum had it years ago and she was so poorly and her legs were like jelly.
