Visiting The Lego House, Billund, Denmark

We had wanted to visit The Lego House in Billund, Denmark, for years after first hearing about it. We absolutely LOVE Lego in our house - the boys have so many lego sets that I've lost count, my husband has a huge personal collection of lego and I have also recently stated to collect it too! So Lego is a huge part of our lives and a massive interest and hobby for us all.

The Lego House is also known as the Home of the Brick and is said to have 25 million lego bricks inside. Lego originates from Billund and Lego's headquarters are in Billund too and so a trip to the Lego House just had to be done!

I'd been so excited to see the huge Lego displays and to show the boys after seeing photos of it online and I also couldn't wait to see the history of lego and some of the old and first ever lego sets made, but I hadn't expected it to be so much more than that!

A Personalised Experience
I was honestly blown away by how much there is to at the Lego House and what a personal experience it is for every guest. One of the first things that we came across when we first entered was a machine where we could scan our entry wristbands and then see our name come up on the screen as well as a unique 6 red brick combination just for us which then printed out a card with our name on and our unique lego combination.

I thought it was such an awesome keepsake, but then when I turned round I saw that you could actually take a polybag for free with 6 red lego bricks in so you could build your unique combination. And not only that but you could see the big machine actually making the lego bricks and packing them up into the polybags. It was so cool - we all loved it!

The Zones
Next we went and saw the INCREDIBLE Lego dinosaur models which are just breathtaking! And then it was on to the different zones which were so much fun!

Yellow Zone
In the yellow zone you can build fish out of lego bricks and then release them into the digital aquarium!

Red Zone
The red zone has a HUGE waterfall built from nearly 2 million lego brick!. There are lego bricks everywhere so you can sit and build whatever comes to your mind!

Green Zone
In the green zone you can create your own stop-motion movies and you can also build your own minifigure or lego version of yourself.

Blue Zone
Here you can program your own robot and then send it on a mission to find flowers for the bees!

Mood Mixer - New for 2022
Also in the yellow zone, there's an awesome new experience that has also just come to The Lego House for 2022 which we loved called Mood Mixer where you can build a character to suit your own mood, then you scan the machine with your wristband and your build comes to life and dances on the screen! It was absolutely amazing to see our build come to life on the sceen!

The Tree of Creativity
Another lego model that blew us away was the Tree Of Creativity, which looks like a real tree and stands as high as one too, but of course it's made out of lego bricks - over 6 million of them! It's amazing to look at, even the leaves of the tree have lego models on!

Lego Library
For some quiet, down time, there's a small Lego library with seating and lots of lego related books to look at. You can easily spend the whole day at The Lego House and so I think it's great to have somewhere to sit and rest for a while.

The History Collection
One of my favourite parts was the History Collection, which took us through how a small carpentry workshop in Billund became one of the worlds largest toy brands! It has hundreds of iconic lego sets on display, with some of the oldest and first to have ever been released as well. It's fantastic for a bit of nostalgia. My Husband had a lot of lego as a kid and so he loved seeing some of the sets he had when he was younger. There's also most of the lego trains on display too, so he loved that as he has quite a few of the iconic lego trains himself!

The Roof Terraces
Something we missed was the nine roof terraces, which I didn't realise until afterwards have creative and fun playgrounds for children on. I think my boy would have loved it, but sadly we didn't realise they were there at the time.

Lego Store and Exclusive Sets
As you would expect, there's also a LEGO store at The Lego House so you can purchase and take home a lego set if you wish to. They also have a couple of exclusive lego sets for sale including the Lego House lego set which you can only buy from there.

Lego Displays Models
The Lego towns and cities on display are some of the absolute BEST you will ever see. We spent so long looking at them all in awe as they are mind blowing and must have taken absolutely ages and a LOT of skill! If you love Lego displays, you can't beat the ones at The Lego House!

MINI CHEF
If you fancy a bite to eat you can book a table at MINI CHEF which is a family restaurant where you build your own orders with lego bricks, scan it at the table and then around 15 minutes later your food is served by a robot! We never went to MINI CHEF, but from what I have read I think it's best to book a table in advance. There is also a lunch area you can eat in if you want to bring your own food to the Lego House.

Magic Wristband
All visitors get a wristband which gives you access to The Lego House and it contains a chip which allows you to store pictures and videos from the things you experience there during your visit. Once you leave you can go online to legohouse.com/en-gb/explore/memories/ and download your memories for free as a really nice keepsake. (They are available for the first 29 days from the day of your visit).

I honestly can't recommend a visit to The Lego House in Billund enough! It was even better than we had expected. There was SO much to do and so much to see. It's a fantastic place for ALL ages and the most perfect place to visit for any LEGO fans!
