How To Get Your Garden Summer 2021 Ready

It's that wonderful time of year when the weather starts warming up enough for us to start leaving our homes without coats, gloves, scarves, hats and wellies, and also when we get to start enjoying our back gardens once more!

I don't know about you, but being able to get outdoors makes me feel so mentally better and I absolutely love that I can fling open the back doors and our back garden can become a bit of an extension to our home. It's hard to beat the feeling of the sunshine on our skins and blue skies above us, isn't it?!

Of course, after what has felt like a long cold winter, sometimes our gardens need a bit of a spruce up for Spring / Summer and today I wanted to share a few things that we can all do to get our gardens summer 2021 ready!

Get the pressure washer out

You'll be amazed at just how much dirt and moss can collect up on things outside in our gardens over the winter. We always start off Spring with a Spring clean of our garden using our pressure washer and it makes SUCH a difference.

Add some colour

Spring and Summer are colourful seasons and it's so nice to add some of that lovely colour to our back gardens too. The easiest way to do that is through flowers.  One of my personal favourite Spring flowers are tulips - if you have the soil for it, planting tulips bulbs or dutch tulip bulbs will make your garden look so pretty when they spring up! Alternatively if you'd rather, you could add pretty hanging baskets to your fences or walls.

Make it cosy

I think it's a really worthwhile investment to invest in some garden furniture. We have a rattan furniture set that we purchased on eBay that we have had for a few years now, and it was such a good purchase. It gives us somewhere to sit together as a family outdoors to enjoy the garden as well as somewhere to sit and have lunch or dinner too.

There are so many different furniture sets available for all sorts of budgets and you can spruce them up even further with the addition of plants, outdoor rugs, solar powered lights and ornaments and more to give your outdoor seating area a really cosy feel.

Our next purchase for our garden is likely to be an outdoor rug as I think they not only make the area feel cosy but also can add a nice pop of colour.

Add some shade

We all enjoy the sun, but in the summer it can get very hot and it's good to have the ability to sit in the shade for a while when the sun is at its hottest. Parasols are a fantastic and easy way to add shade to a garden and you can get all different types to protect you and your children from the hottest times of the days during summer. It's also a good idea to get a smaller parasol for around things like garden paddling pools to keep the sun off of the kids whilst they're splashing about.

I hope that these ideas have been helpful and that everyone has a lovely sunny, summer 2021!

Thank you for reading.
