The All New Peugeot 2008 SUV As A Stylish, Practical Car For The Modern Family

Among the many things that parenthood has taught me, I have come to know that choosing the right family car is super important. We spend a great deal of time in the car as a family travelling for breaks away, days out and general trips to and fro out of the house and so ensuring that our car offers us space, comfort and is family-friendly is important to us.

A couple of weeks ago I was excitingly invited along to the UK launch of the all-new Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 SUV at what was a very smart, contemporary house in Oxfordshire and on arrival we were greeted by a number of the friendly Peugeot team including the managing director and of course the brand new cars themselves. After a press conference to tell us all about the highlights of the brand new 208 and 2008 we then had the chance to take the cars our on the road for a test drive so that we could experience what they have to offer ourselves and in our own way.

I partnered up with the lovely Jamie from adayinthelifedad.com to take the cars out and we both said very quickly how quiet and smooth the cars were.

I was also really impressed with the design of both the 208 and 2008, for me they re the perfect in-between of modern, sleek and a little bit sporty (despite being incredibly roomy inside!) with my favourite aspect of the cars' design being the LED lion's claw lights which really stand out I think.

Inside, the cars are both roomy, with the 2008 SUV being the more roomier of the two and so in my opinion, a better choice for families and the one I'm going to focus on in this post.

To help keep the driver and his/her family safe, every Peugeot 2008 SUV comes with the following safety features as standard:
  • Peugeot Connect SOS & Assist
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Speed limit recognition and recommendation
  • Driver attention warning
  • Distance alert
  • Active safety brake with pedestrian detection
And the interior is both clever and stylish featuring the latest Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit with a compact steering wheel and a 3.5 inch configurable 3D digital head-up display with hologram technology and a colour touchscreen. There's Connected 3D Navigations which includes European mapping with 3D city mapping and voice recognition

It's also super clever in that it can be opened without removing the key from your bag or pocket, you simply just need to grab the handle and the car will unlock with Peugeot's Open and Go keyless entry. And if you forget to lock the car when you get out, the system will automatically lock and confirm with an audible signal!

In the back of the car, the boot is really spacious and the rear seats can fold down to give even more space if needed. One thing I also really liked about the boot was that it has a hidden compartment on the floor of the boot where you could store things like the kids muddy well boots. This secret compartment is easily accessible and doesn't eat into the boot size whatsoever.

Another thing that I liked, I guess from my own personal point of view as a busy Mum, was the wireless charging at the front. I was able to simply place my phone on the charging spot next to the steering wheel and my phone was wirelessly charging. The other great thing was the USB points for the rear passengers - which would be great for kids using their iPads or other technology during a long car journey and wanting to charge them!

Overall I found both the Peugeot 208 and 2008 to be amazing cars, with the 2008 SUV being my favourite from the point of view of a Mum. It's roomy, stylish, practical and perfect for any modern family.
