What's On My Bookshelf? My Reading List for 2019

When I was younger I used to love reading and getting lost inside my books, though as I've got older and had children and since my job has become about being online, my time for reading has decreased. This is, however, something I've wanted to change for a little while now and one of the goals I've set myself for the year is to get back into making time for my books.

I could spend hours wandering around book stores and browsing libraries and I don't think anything quite matches the smell of a new book. I love the online world and social media and I love that I get to do this for my job, but sometimes repeatedly scrolling through Instagram feels somewhat unproductive especially in comparison to reading a good book.

When it comes to the sorts of books I like to read, I have to say I'm not really one for fiction (though perhaps I haven't really given it a good go), I seem to instead naturally gravitate towards books that are inspiring, educational or ones that I can learn something from. My usual choices, as you'll see below, include books about mindfulness and self-help and of course, books on my favourite subject - royal British history, or more specifically the Tudor era.

So what's on my bookshelf and my reading list for this year? Over on my YouTube channel today I've spoken with quite a bit more detail about what I'm currently reading, what I'll be reading next and which books I've previously loved and enjoyed and below you'll find the list of these books. I'd love to know if you have read any of them yourself? And also what is currently on your reading list? Do you prefer fiction or are you like me in your book choices? I'd love to hear from you in the comment section down below! Don't forget to check out my video too to find out why I've chosen the books that I have.

Fearne Cotton - Quiet
Alison Weir - Henry VIII: King & Court
Tracy Borman - The Private Lives Of The Tudors
Prof Steve Peters - The Chimp Paradox
Henry Carrol - Read This If You Want To Take Great Photographs
Elizabeth Norton - The Lives Of Tudor Women
Daniel Levitan - The Organized Mind
Simon Parke - One Minute Mindfulness
Simon Jenkins - A Short History Of England
Fearne Cotton - Happy
Alison Weir - The Lady In The Tower. The Fall Of Anne Boleyn

  1. I love reading and usually go up to bed 45 minutes before my husband for my 'chill time', a good book and a cup of tea. I recently bought the Happy book by Fearne Cotton but not started it yet x

  2. I also love the smell of new books (and old ones)! :) I like both fiction and non fiction. I read Fearne Cotton's Happy last year and want to read Quiet as well.
