6 Clever Storage Ideas For Kids Bedrooms That I Use In My Own Home

I don't know about you, but I know that my children seem to have accumulated so many things over the years. Be it toys, artwork, books, sticker pads, clothes, shoes.. I'm always looking to find the next best storage solution so that their bedrooms don't feel overcrowded. Today I thought I would share some of my favourite clever storage ideas for kids bedrooms that I am currently using in my own home with you all in case you are currently on the hunt for kids storage bedroom inspiration yourself. :)

1. Pictures ledges to store books
I know I've said about this is a few times before, but it's absolutely one of my favourite storage solutions - ever! Before I used pictures ledges to store the boys' books, I was forever trying to find a solution that didn't look too messy as it just felt like we were overflowing books. Since I've used the picture ledges to store them, it has really freed up so much space, plus I really like the way it looks and the fact that we're using wall space that we otherwise wouldn't have been using. Our picture ledges are from IKEA.

2. LEGO storage blocks
If you're little one/s are in to LEGO, the LEGO storage blocks are such a great way to store all of their little bricks, plus they look fantastic and come with a lid!

3. Using folders or document boxes to storage kids artwork/drawings
I am currently using a document box to store all of my eldest Son's drawings and art work in that he does at home and at school. It won't last me forever, but it really does hold quite a lot and it can be sectioned off too in to different categories like 'home' or 'pre-school' and 'reception year'. I think the trick is finding one that you like the look of too, so that it blends nicely in to the room's decor. We have this one (below) on a shelf above Ethan's bed and we really like how it looks there.

 4. Kids bed storage
We have under bed storage in both of our children's rooms and we use it for storing things like their spare bedding, blankets, swimming items and other things like that. Having storage inbuilt into your childs bed is so useful and our plans are to purchase a kids mid sleeper bed for each of the boys as they get older. I just love how much storage they provide, especially so for rooms that aren't really that big.

5. In drawer organisers and boxes
In-drawer organisers are amazing. especially for children's clothes! We've used them since our boys were born. If you've got things like baby vests and baby grows and then their little trousers and tops then they'll be so tiny in a large drawer. Having in-drawer boxes that help organise them will mean that the drawer will stay neater for longer. We currently use them for things like the boy's socks. Even if you just use one in the middle (as below), it separates the drawer meaning you can add in other small items (like vests) and also still have space for storing odd socks etc.

6. Organise toys in to tubs
What we like to do is to loose the big cardboard boxes for individual play sets and combine like for like toys and figures together to still keep them organised but to also save on space. For example, we have a tub for all of my eldest Son's Playmobil - we've combined it all together and therefore managed to chuck out all of the big cardboard boxes that the individual sets came in. We keep all crafts together in one big tub and we also keep toy animals together and Ethan's dinosaurs. Basically anything that is like for like goes together in one tub so that we don't have to try and find space for individual boxes.

  1. You definitely keep their art works cleaner than I do. We have one of those boxes that you store their toys in and I am throwing everything in there. lol I was meant to sort it out a few times as it is quite messy and some stuff I don't want to keep. I just take photos of everything and it goes into a folder on my Dropbox account. xx
