The Me and Mine Family Portrait Project - November 2016 | When Meeting Santa Goes A Little Bit Wrong

This is probably not the photo I had envisioned for this month. I mean for one, what is going on with my crazy eyes? And also could my hair be any flatter if it even tried?! ;)

A trip to see Mr Claus himself was supposed to be a magical family moment, a moment to really kick off the festivities as we head in to December. But when you've got young children, moments don't aways, in fact they rarely, seem to go totally to plan.

And the reason for my slightly dodgy face (and hair) can be found within the second picture below..

You see, some babies (and it doesn't matter even if there is a promise of presents), some babies really just can't seem to understand the hype around the man with the long white beard in red. And my little Logan - he is one of those babies.

Even if his big brother Ethan, has figured out that if you stand and smile nicely with him for just a few moments, he'll give you a gift.

When you're a Mum and even more so when you're a blogger and when it comes to the split few seconds that you have to jump in next to Father Christmas and get that family photo, you go for it. You do your best to get some sort of half smile from your children who evidently aren't fooled by a man with a curly white beard and a fluffy red and white outfit and hat. In your desperation to get anything but tears from the little people in your tribe, you ask the nearest person to you just take twenty odd photos because surely there's at least one that'll make the cut, but then in the madness you forget about yourself and end up looking slightly like you've just got out of bed in every single photo, except the one that your Husband has his eyes closed in (of course)!

November has come and gone for us, it's been as hectic as these photos felt. Adam and I have been super busy with work. Adam sells Lego and this is the time that Lego is the most popular, so we work hard doing the winter and we try and take it a little easier in the Summer and enjoy much more family time then.

We ordered a brand new car this month, it's Adam's dream car (asides from the Audi R8), so that was quite exciting. I'm not massively in to cars myself, I'm generally happy with whatever gets me from A to B, but I know it means a lot to Adam and so I'm really pleased that we have been able to afford it for him.

Ethan gave up his dummy and became fully potty trained this month which has been amazing. Logan has become such a confident little walker too. I'm in a good place and am really happy that I've spent this year overcoming lots of things that have made me feel anxious. And Adam's doing great too - I think he just needs an assistant over the next few weeks before he drowns in Lego, haha!

I hope November has been a good month for you all. And I hope you all have a wonderful, festive December. :)

  1. Oh a new car... what did he get? :) We didn't bother going to see Santa this year. Matthew will be afraid of him and Chloe generally doesn't like anyone she doesn't know whether that's Santa or not. She does have a book called "That's not my Santa" and she likes rubbing the beard on it because it's a feel and touch book. She says "nice". So I suppose we could get her to do that on the "real" Santa lol #meandmine

    1. Thank you Laura, that's so kind of you. And yeah I feel like the boys look really similar to each other too, it's crazy to see Logan getting so big even though I am with him everyday. xx

  4. Aww bless poor Logan - it makes me feel better that my Me and Mine pictures this month have a crosspatch little Pip in them! And these will totally be the photos that they turn to when they're older - it's always the ones with a story behind them that you're drawn towards!

  5. Lol bless him! Noah was just like that last year. I think he'll be the same again this year, he's not a fan of strangers! If Sailor reacts the same way, then I feel very sorry for the poor Santa with two crying babies on his lap...and we're going to see four different ones at various events!! HA! xx

  6. Oh Alex bless you babes, I have been there last year and year before MM hates Santa and would scream anywhere near him. So family captures have been out of the question. She finally kind of stood near him this year and that was a huge success for us. We take it. I think you look absolutely beautiful always and in this photo so it's a winner for me. I love it when you ask a stranger to take a 100 photos as fast as they can ... I do that hoping something comes from it. lol :) Gorgeous festive sweaters and photo babes. happy holidays. #meandmineproject

  8. Awww! Bless him! It is a strange concept for them - Santa is a stranger at the end of the day. My 5 year old is still very cautious of Santa. Woohoo on the new car! #meandmineproject
