I'm Not Scared. Okay.. Maybe I am.

Confession time.. When I was younger I absolutely loved a good horror film or TV show. Horror was probably my favourite genre, but nowadays I just can't watch them. I'm okay with zombie type shows or films - those I actually really enjoy. I've always had a bit of a weird thing about really enjoying watching anything undead related, I think it stems from watching my step-dad play Resident Evil on his playstation as a teen and thinking it was a pretty cool story. But any other type of horror, these days makes me turn off as yep, I'll admit it, I'm a bit of a scaredy cat! Adam's just the same, he says horror films don't freak him out, but I know they do!

Funnily enough, it wasn't until I read this article from Slumberdown about the top 20 scary film and TV shows that keep us awake at night that I realised that actually I'm so not alone with this and that it's perfectly normal to feel like a big baby about horror! The article says that 'Almost half of the 2,000 adults we surveyed admitted they had changed the channel after watching a chilling film or TV show and over a quarter ended up sleeping with the light. Forty per cent even resorted to watching a kids’ TV show or something light-hearted to calm them down before finally switching off for the night.' - This is just so me, it's unreal and quite honestly, I feel so much better now knowing I'm not the only one! ;)

The article goes on to suggest that, 'If you are prone to nightmares after watching a scary show before bed, we’d suggest recording it to watch during the daytime, to avoid the creepy fear of the midnight run to the toilet.' and whilst I think this idea is actually probably the best if you are the type of person that still loves to watch a good horror, even if they do freak you out, I'm still not sure that I could personally manage to watch one myself! ;)

What about you? Do horror films/TV shows freak you out?

  1. I can't watch horror films. Never could but it is worse now I have the kids. Final Destination films are about as close to blood and stuff that I can manage. Mind you, I also hate ET cause he's creepy!
