The Me and Mine Family Portrait Project - October 2016

Just like September, October appears to have run away with itself! The beginning of the month I seem to remember more than I do the second half. But I'm starting to think that time somehow feels slower when we have things to do, as strange as that sounds. I feel like when we're not really that busy out of the house with events and occasions, time merges because the days and the weeks that we're working at home and looking after the boys merge because of the same sort of routine.

You'd think from our picture (above) that maybe Ethan was the grumpiest of the boys the day that we got our photo for this month, but you'd be wrong! Ethan has actually inherited his Mama's moody-looking-even-when-we're-happy-face and it was the youngest member of our family who was oh so very overtired and grumpy. Getting our family photos seems to be quite the task these days - we want to make them feel almost non-posed for, but it's kinda hard when you're setting up a tripod in the woods and all standing in front of it! ;)

At the start of the month Adam turned 28. We celebrated with a surprise three course meal from Adam's parents at a stunning manor house not too far from us. We also went for a nice lunch as a couple at our favourite restaurant Prezzo then used up our spa voucher that Adam's brother and girlfriend had bought us last Christmas, the day after. And then on Adam's actual birthday I was invited along to the Thorntons Factory in Derby for an exciting tour around the chocolate factory and to try my hand at being a chocolatier for a day, which was a lot of fun!

Adam and I celebrated spending half of our lives together (14 years) on the 11th of this month and to mark the occasion we got ourselves a take-away (obviously) and I put together some of the clips I had from our wedding day to make us a proper wedding video.

On the 12th I did something that I had felt super anxious about, but also super excited about.. I flew with Pampers and some fellow bloggers and vloggers to Pampers HQ in Germany for the day. I was nervous about going, but I am so proud of myself for doing it. I actually ended up having such a great time and met some really lovely people. I feel so fortunate for experiences like Thorntons and Pampers. I'm always honest with how anxious those sorts of events make me feel, but I honestly can't tell you how much I also love being given the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and have such amazing experiences that without blogging and vlogging I may never have had the opportunity to experience.

This month is the month that Ethan has stopped napping. His finish time at pre-school has played a part in that, so instead of naps we now have a quiet time, rest period in the day for him as he is still getting quite tired. Ethan's been doing amazingly well with his potty training, we had one bad day recently with it, but other than that it's going really well. We're taking it slow and not rushing it and we're getting there!

Logan is doing really well with his walking. He's still not fully walking, but he's doing more and more steps everyday, so we thought it would be a nice to capture a photograph (below) that showed how well he is doing with his first steps.

I'm excited for November, we're going away for a few days at the beginning of November and then there will be the big build up to December. Ethan's so excited for Christmas this year and his excitement is contagious.

  12. I feel the same lovely when I am trying to capture us all four in the park or somewhere out and about the tripod or camera balancing in front of us with on lookers and the kids I want to be more nature and not posed for but it never comes out that way for me. Your photos are always stunning as our your boys they are growing up way too fast. What a busy month you have had too. Looking forward to seeing everyone's festive captures soon. Can't believe under year is almost under our belt. #meandmineproject
