Breaking up after 14 years?!

First of all, I am a trillion light years behind everyone else with this one, but when Johnny Depp guest starred on Daybreak this morning and spoke about the end of his 14-year relationship with his ex, I felt a little bit sad. 14 years! That's a hell of a long time. I've been with Adam for 11 years in October and honestly we have shared way too much of our lives to ever consider breaking up. But, I don't know the story, things happen, people split. I'm sure they never saw it coming.  I feel pretty bad for him, I think know that after that amount of time it would be just so difficult to carry on living as 'normal', without the person that you've spent so much of your life with.

I was having a little read up on it and I found this. I think that the way he spoke about his ex was actually really respectful;

“Relationships are very difficult. Especially in the racket that I’m in, because you’re constantly away or they’re away, and so it’s hard. It wasn’t easy on her. It wasn’t easy on me. It wasn’t easy on the kids. So, yeah. The trajectory of that relationship — you play it out until it goes, one thing leads to another. So for whatever reason that ceases, it doesn’t stop the fact that you care for that person, and they’re the mother of your kids, and you’ll always know each other, and you’re always gonna be in each other’s lives because of those kids. You might as well make the best of it.”

Poor guy. Lets hope that he can soon find happiness again.

  1. That is a long time and I've always wondered too how people can split after being together for a long time. Hope he and his ex do well.

    And I love the new hairstyle!! It looks very beautiful on you. :)

  2. I've been with my husband for five years now and in a way it feels like such a short time, and in another way it feels like forever. It would be really strange to adjust to him NOT being here. On the other hand, I suppose sometimes you grow apart--people do change with time! Or maybe you weren't really meant for each other in the first place and it takes years to realize it. I do wish them both the best.

  3. I like Johnny Depp. He's with Amber Heard now though isn't he...and Vanessa Paradis seems to think its been going on since before they broke up, according to reports. I'm such a tabloid queen lol.

    I was with my ex for 7 years and that felt like forever - he turned into an absolute prick in the end but it's still a big change when you break up with someone that you've seen every day for so long.

  5. You're right - I've "only" been with David six years, but even when we have screaming matches and fight really badly, I could never imagine being without him! Plus, Johnny and Vanessa have kids, making the split even more complicated. But I think he's already moved on to Amber Heard...
