'I love you.'

Three little words that mean so much.

This week my little boy said those three little words by himself of his own accord to me and it made my entire year. I tell Ethan (and Logan and Adam) I love them more times a day than I probably blink - I'm gushy like that, so hearing my little boy say it to me all by himself was just the best thing.

And I of course reacted in the usual way a Mummy would on hearing her little one tell that her they love her for the very first time, which has since encouraged Ethan to say it a few more times as he knows it puts the biggest smile on my face.

The first time he told me he loved me he also told me I was his best friend - which of course was the cherry on the top of the cake for me... He later went on to tell me I 'wasn't his best friend n'more'. after he didn't get his own way later on in the day, but hey - that's nearly 3 year olds for you, right?! ;)

Ethan's speech has come on leaps and bounds especially when I think back to how I used to worry about him having a speech delay.. he got there - just in his own time. He now comes out with the most fantastic phrases and picks up on the way I say things too.. he really doesn't miss a thing! He's gone from being totally silent to a complete and utter chatterbox. Though whenever I tell him how much of a chatter box he is, he always protests, 'I NOT chatterbox!'. ;)

He might be a little chatterbox, but I really could listen to him say, 'I love you' to me all day everyday.

I love you too Ethan, so very much my little sweetheart.

  1. Aww it's really sweet when they start telling you they love you 😀 my son age 7 recently told me I was the best mum and it felt like being told he loved me for the first time again as he's not normally a gushy boy about me as much these days

  2. Terribly sweet, I am at that phase with a 4 month old, whom I think is saying mama, and my heart is melting, so I don't know what I will do when he says those 3 little words! x

  3. Awww, what a lovely post! I'm a nursery nurse so often have the children tell me they love me and missed me etc, but I can only imagine how wonderful it feels as a parent for your child to tell you that :) I can't wait to experience that myself too one day!
